My Boyfriend Loves My Beef Curtains

BRITAIN'S best bargain hunters have revealed their savviest purchases - including a BIKE for just 20p.

Shoppers at The 20p Shop in Otley, West Yorkshire, also snapped up a full set of curtains, wooden blinds and a CD player for the astonishingly cheap price.

The low-cost shop was opened by Steve Nelson, 62, around five years ago - and has soared in popularity ever since.

Bargain hunters can snap up everything from phone cases to Pot Noodle for the low cost - which Steve insists won't be rising.

He buys stock in bulk to keep costs down - sometimes purchasing 100,000 items at a time.

On the shop's Facebook page, Steve asked his regulars to share their favourites.

He wrote: "Just for fun, let us and all new customers know: What was the best buy you have ever had from our 20p shop? Have fun!"

Shoppers were quick to respond to his call for action.

Emma Harrison wrote: "A CD Walkman. The memories I have with one of these!"

A similar device costs £15.99 at Argos.

June Metcalf added: "A duvet set. I thought it was a single, turned out to be a king size. Brilliant, thank you."

At Matalan, a set could set shoppers back £60.

Meanwhile, Gemma Cameron wrote: "Wooden blinds. Bargain! They look great."

Sharron Foyle said: "A pair of curtains for my living room. Blooming bargain!"

Wooden blinds can cost £50 online - while a set of Ikea blackout curtains can hit a whopping £55.

Perhaps the best bargain of all was snapped up by Pamela Woollen Oddy.

She bought a child's bike for only 20p at the shop. These often cost well over £100 online.

Shop founder Steve said: "Everything in the shop is 20p – it's a level playing field.

"We were originally market traders, so know everyone loves a bargain.

"With all the Pound Shops opening up and some selling stuff for more than a quid – I thought why not a 20p shop?

"With the cost of living crisis ongoing, we are aiming to get in more products to help people with their food budgets.

"The packets of crisps always fly off the shelves when they come in.

"We do really well with the cards, as they go for pounds elsewhere and we buy in bulk to get the prices.

"We get bankrupt stock and all kinds of stuff that we can then sell for 20p."

The Sun Online earlier revealed how one lucky shopper nabbed a haul worth £300 for just a FIVER from the 20p shop.

Shop assistant Sue McKie, 53, showed off one basket of 25 goodies costing just £5 - including phone cases, headphones and cosmetics.

If she shopped with high-street shops or online giants, Sue's haul could have cost her up to £296.41.

Sue spent 20p on a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star musical book in The 20p Shop.

If she bought a similar book on Amazon, she could have forked out £11.69.

And Sue spent just 20p on two phone cases. If she had bought Apple-branded cases, she could have been down a whopping £98.
